Real estate magnate and Bahria Town founder Malik Riaz is reportedly preparing to return to Pakistan after a potential settlement with key political figures. The development has sparked widespread discussion, with sources indicating his expected arrival around mid-July 2025.

According to Abdullah Gul, son of former ISI chief Hamid Gul, Malik Riaz and his associates, including ex-MPA Haji Amjad Mehmood and Country Head Muhammad Shahid Qureshi, have resolved legal matters with influential authorities. If true, Riaz is likely to land in Karachi and stay at Bilawal House under Sindh government protection before moving to Islamabad.

Malik Riaz has been abroad since former PM Imran Khan’s conviction in the Al-Qadir Trust case, which also involved investigations by NAB. Despite pressure, Riaz consistently refused to testify, stating, “I will not testify—then or now.”

The reported deal was allegedly facilitated by top political leaders including President Asif Ali Zardari, Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani, Deputy PM Ishaq Dar, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. However, no official confirmation has been made public.

Senior journalist Umar Cheema also weighed in, suggesting a cautious approach: “July 15 is not far; let’s see where Malik Sahib ends up.” His remarks highlight lingering uncertainty about the actual outcome.

Legal experts believe that while a return seems possible, several legal and political challenges still exist. Given the high-profile nature of the Al-Qadir Trust case, any move involving Malik Riaz will face public and institutional scrutiny.

This potential homecoming may shift the political landscape, depending on how the government and judiciary respond.
