Pakistani judoka Malaika Noor made history by winning a silver medal at the Asian Open Judo Championship 2025. She is the first Pakistani woman to earn a medal at this prestigious Asian-level competition.
Competing in the under-52kg category, Malaika Noor showcased great skill and determination. She defeated opponents from three countries to reach the final. One of her notable wins was against Jordan’s Raneem Aljazazi in the semi-final.
In the final match, Malaika Noor fought a tough battle but narrowly lost to her Saudi rival. Despite this, her silver medal is a major achievement for Pakistan’s women in sports.
Colonel Junaid Alam, President of the Pakistan Judo Federation, praised Malaika Noor’s accomplishment. He called it a proud moment for the country and women’s sports.
Malaika Noor has previously represented Pakistan at the World Junior Judo Championship in Dushanbe. Her consistent performances at national and international levels have earned her recognition as one of Pakistan’s most promising judokas.
Other Pakistani Judokas Shine in Amman
Besides Malaika Noor, three other Pakistani athletes competed at the Asian Open in Amman. Noor Khan (60kg) won his first match but was defeated in the next round. Muhammad Abbas Khalil (73kg) also won one bout before losing. A 17-year-old debutant from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won his first fight but was knocked out in the next.
Though they did not win medals, their strong performances indicate growing potential for Pakistan in international judo.
The success of Malaika Noor and her teammates highlights Pakistan’s rising presence in the sport and offers hope for future achievements.
