Liverpool have finalized a £40 million deal to sign Bournemouth’s highly rated left-back Milos Kerkez, as reported by renowned journalist David Ornstein. The 21-year-old Hungarian international is set to undergo a medical next week ahead of a five-year contract at Anfield.

Kerkez enjoyed a standout 2024-25 Premier League campaign, starting all 38 league matches for Bournemouth and contributing two goals and five assists—an impressive return for a full-back. His performances were instrumental in securing the Cherries’ highest-ever top-flight finish.

Liverpool’s interest in Kerkez emerged earlier this month after extensive scouting. The defender, who joined Bournemouth from AZ Alkmaar in 2023 for £15.5 million, quickly became one of the league’s most exciting young talents. With 23 senior caps for Hungary since his 2022 debut, he brings both potential and international experience.

The move highlights Liverpool’s focus on rejuvenating their defense, particularly with Andy Robertson entering the latter stages of his career at 31. While Robertson remains a key figure, Kerkez is seen as his long-term successor, offering pace, attacking flair, and tactical versatility on the left flank.

Kerkez’s playing style—excelling in overlapping and underlapping runs—aligns perfectly with Liverpool’s wing-based system, previously honed under Jürgen Klopp and now under Arne Slot. Though still refining his defensive game, his ability to disrupt opposition shape and support quick transitions makes him an ideal fit.

Bournemouth, anticipating his departure, have already secured reinforcements, signing Adrian Truffert from Rennes and Julio Soler earlier this year.

Kerkez becomes Liverpool’s third major summer signing, following the arrivals of Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz, as the Reds continue their squad overhaul.
