Lightning Kills Four, Injures Several in South Punjab

At least four people lost their lives and several were injured due to lightning strikes during thunderstorms in South Punjab

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) stated the fatalities occurred in the Rajanpur and Bahawalpur districts, where the lightning was accompanied by heavy rain and thunder.

PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia contacted local deputy commissioners, instructing them to provide the best medical care to the injured.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragedy, and the families of the deceased will receive financial aid,” said Kathia. He emphasized that combating natural disasters requires collective effort and cooperation.

He also urged the public to take safety precautions during extreme weather, advising people to remain indoors and avoid staying under open skies during storms.

PDMA remains actively engaged with local authorities to ensure timely relief and continued monitoring of the situation.
