The Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed the government to implement a work-from-home policy for schools and offices to address the growing smog crisis in Punjab. Justice Shahid Karim issued this order during a hearing focused on measures to tackle the smog issue, stressing immediate action.

Despite previous advice to the government, Justice Karim noted that smog control efforts have not been effective due to administrative inefficiencies, such as frequent transfers of Deputy Commissioners. He also recommended halting construction activities, which contribute to air pollution, and urged the creation of a robust transport inspection policy with precise data tracking.

Additionally, the court was informed about the illegal cutting of trees for electric bus depots in the Township area, with the felled trees allegedly being sold in timber markets. Justice Karim ordered an investigation into this matter and called for legal action against those responsible. The Punjab Secretary for Transport was summoned to provide clarification on the issue.
