A petition submitted to the Lahore High Court (LHC) demands an immediate ban on YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok for allegedly spreading unethical content and operating without proper regulation.

The petition names the federal government and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) as respondents, accusing these platforms of facilitating blackmail, immoral content, and fake videos. It claims many Pakistanis exploit YouTube for financial gain by sharing inappropriate material without oversight.

Additionally, the petitioner criticized the lack of a licensing system for content creators on YouTube and Facebook, enabling harmful and misleading content. TikTok and Instagram were specifically accused of exploiting viewers for profit through unethical practices.

Concerns were also raised about vlog content featuring family members, particularly women, which the petitioner argues undermines traditional family values. The petition calls for strict enforcement of the Citizen Protection Rules to regulate social media and uphold societal norms.

The petitioner further requested the court to implement a mandatory licensing system for content creators to ensure accountability for online content.
