The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday gave police time until February 9 to recover a girl reported missing from Sahiwal. The decision came during a hearing of a petition filed by Nadir Ali.

Chief Justice Aalia Neelum heard about the case. Regional Police Officer Sahiwal, Ayaz Saleem, appeared before the court and explained that he had recently taken charge. He requested time to review the case and gather details.

The LHC allowed the police time but expressed concerns over the investigation so far. The chief justice stressed that officers must handle cases involving children with care. She warned that negligence in such cases would not be tolerated.

The court also questioned the police about a lost USB drive containing the girl’s CCTV footage. An inquiry through the sessions of the judge revealed that the USB was never submitted to the court.

The LHC emphasized that the investigation should clarify the circumstances of the girl’s disappearance. The court made it clear that police must take immediate and responsible action to locate her.

The hearing was adjourned until February 9, giving the police a clear deadline to report progress. The petition claims that the girl was allegedly abducted and seeks her safe recovery.

Authorities are now under strict orders from the LHC to ensure no delay occurs in handling this sensitive case. Police have been instructed to focus on child protection and follow all proper procedures during the investigation.
