LESCO employees have announced a strike following the registration of legal cases against several company officers by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). This dispute arose after LESCO took strict action against electricity theft in multiple areas, including the Shahpur and Baghbanpura divisions.

LESCO teams identified flour mills involved in stealing electricity and issued detection bills against them. A formal case was filed against the flour mill administration at Chohang police station. However, the accused parties then filed complaints with the FIA against LESCO officers leading the anti-theft operations.

As a result, the FIA registered cases against several senior LESCO officials. These include Executive Engineer Sana Muhammad, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Shahpur Hassan Raza, Executive M&T Aamir Ikram, Director Commercial Rizwan Sibghatullah, and Director Customer Services Abbas Ali. Similarly, in the Baghbanpura division, cases were filed against Executive Kamran Naveed and SDO Tanveer after they issued detection bills for electricity theft.

The LESCO Engineers Association strongly condemned the registration of these cases. They called the legal actions unjust and harmful to ongoing efforts to curb power theft. The association said such actions demoralize employees who work hard to enforce the law and maintain fair power distribution.

In protest, LESCO engineers and employees have announced a complete strike starting Tuesday. They will also hold a protest demonstration at the company’s headquarters. The association demands the immediate withdrawal of all cases against their officers. They also called for protection and support for staff carrying out their duties against electricity theft.

The strike may lead to disruptions in power supply across affected areas. Authorities are urged to intervene quickly to resolve the dispute and ensure smooth power services. LESCO continues to face challenges balancing strict anti-theft measures with protecting its employees from legal harassment. Talks are expected soon to end the strike and restore normal operations.
