Leopard enters well-known university in Islamabad

A leopard was seen inside the International Islamic University Islamabad, prompting authorities to close all campus buildings and summon wildlife and police officials.

A university spokesperson confirmed that the animal was spotted in the bushes, causing panic among students. As a precaution, all university units were shut down, and the campus will remain closed until the leopard is safely captured.

The Islamabad Wildlife team arrived to conduct a search operation, during which they found signs of the leopard’s presence. Officials set up traps and continued patrolling the area to ensure the animal is caught. The spokesperson urged the public to stay calm, avoid spreading rumors, and cooperate with authorities during the operation.

Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) Statement
The IWMB is closely monitoring the leopard sighting at the university. Leopards naturally inhabit the Margalla Hills National Park and are highly adaptable. Research indicates that a leopard’s territory can cover 20–30 km², and they often move more at night, sometimes entering nearby human areas.

Leopards in this region have adjusted to human presence, and it is important for people to respond responsibly by understanding their behavior. Authorities emphasized that there is no need to panic, as trained teams are actively coordinating to handle the situation safely.
