Lenovo Showcases Foldable Screen and Solar-Powered Laptops at MWC 2025

At Mobile World Congress 2025, Lenovo unveiled two innovative laptop concepts. One of them, the ThinkBook Flip, is a folding screen laptop featuring an 18-inch foldable display that splits horizontally into two separate screens—one on the front and one on the back. When unfolded, it operates as a large-screen laptop, but it can also be folded into a tablet-like device.

Additionally, Lenovo introduced the Yoga Solar PC, a laptop that integrates solar panels into its lid without adding bulk. According to Lenovo, this laptop achieves a 24% solar power conversion rate by repositioning the typical gridlines behind the solar cells, allowing for improved energy absorption. The company’s demonstration showed that the solar panel can generate around 7V in ambient light and up to 12V in direct sunlight, potentially boosting power generation under optimal conditions. Weighing just 1.1 KG, the Yoga Solar PC is comparable to other modern ultrabooks.

Lenovo claims that just 20 minutes of direct sunlight could provide roughly one hour of video playback time, offering an extra boost to battery life—not a full replacement for conventional charging. While these innovative concepts often make a splash at events like MWC and CES, they rarely become commercially available, so it remains to be seen if these models will eventually hit the market.
