Latest River Flows Show Reservoirs Holding 11.7 MAF Water Storage

WAPDA released an update on river flows and reservoir storage across Pakistan. The latest river flows show significant water levels in key rivers and reservoirs.

The inflow at Tarbela Dam on the Indus River is recorded at 186,100 cusecs. Meanwhile, Mangla Dam on the Jhelum River has an inflow of 43,300 cusecs. These figures are crucial for managing water resources and flood control.

At Chashma Barrage, the inflow reached 252,200 cusecs. Head Marala on the Chenab River recorded 191,900 cusecs of inflow. On the Kabul River, Nowshera saw an inflow of 33,400 cusecs.

The reservoirs are holding a combined water storage of 11.722 million acre-feet (MAF). Tarbela reservoir contains 5.728 MAF, Mangla reservoir holds 5.782 MAF, and Chashma reservoir stores 0.212 MAF of water.

These latest river flows and reservoir levels are closely monitored by WAPDA to ensure proper water management. The data helps with irrigation planning, flood prevention, and water supply management across the country.

WAPDA continues to track river flows to prepare for any potential flood risks and to maintain water availability during dry periods. These updates assist authorities in making informed decisions regarding water distribution and safety measures.

In summary, the latest river flows show stable and significant water inflows in major rivers. Reservoirs currently have a strong water storage capacity, which supports agricultural and domestic needs across Pakistan.

Monitoring river flows remains vital for managing the country’s water resources effectively throughout the year.
