Landslide Forces Closure of Murree Expressway Following Heavy Rains

Authorities on Tuesday confirmed that a section of the Murree Expressway has been temporarily shut after heavy rainfall triggered a landslide, blocking part of the road.

According to the Murree deputy commissioner, continuous downpours loosened rocks from surrounding hills, damaging one lane of the expressway. As a precaution, traffic has been completely stopped on the affected stretch, though the rest of the route remains open.

The district administration has begun clearance and repair work, assuring that full restoration will follow once debris is removed and structural safety is ensured.

In the meantime, officials have urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly during rain, and to stay away from hilly areas prone to further landslides. Travelers have been advised to monitor official updates and comply with safety guidelines issued by local authorities.
