Lahore’s first floating restaurant is expected to welcome visitors later this year, as construction work on the unique project enters its final phase. Officials involved in the development say the facility is on track for completion, pending final safety approvals and inspections.
The three-storey floating restaurant is being built on a canal branching from the River Ravi near Jallo Park. Project authorities confirmed that civil and structural work is progressing at a fast pace, with teams working around the clock to ensure the project is completed before the end of the year. Once finished, the floating restaurant will be able to accommodate more than 200 guests at a time, offering Lahore a completely new waterfront dining experience.
Designed as a family-friendly destination, the floating restaurant aims to combine quality food with scenic canal views. Along with indoor dining areas, the multi-level structure is expected to feature open-air spaces, allowing guests to enjoy meals while taking in the natural surroundings.
To ensure the safety and stability of the floating restaurant, extensive work is being carried out on the canal itself. Authorities are deepening and reinforcing the canal by removing sand and silt from the bed, creating sufficient depth and structural support for the restaurant once it becomes operational.
Project officials said construction, mechanical installation, and finishing work are all being carried out simultaneously to meet the planned timeline. In addition to dining facilities, the site will offer essential amenities, including dedicated parking for visitors, proper lighting, and restroom facilities. A diverse range of food options is also planned to cater to different tastes.
Managing Director of the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), Raja Mansoor Ahmed, has termed the floating restaurant a future landmark for the city, adding that it is expected to enhance Lahore’s recreational and tourism appeal once opened.
