Lahore Traffic Police to Seize Vehicles of Unpaid E-Challan Offenders

Lahore Traffic Police, in collaboration with the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), has blacklisted 2,546 vehicles for non-payment of e-challans and ordered their confiscation.

According to officials, an action plan has been implemented to take strict action against repeat traffic fine defaulters. Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Dr. Athar Waheed stated that blacklisted vehicles will be tracked through Safe City cameras and impounded until all dues are cleared. Traffic officers have been directed to check each vehicle’s e-challan record during duty hours.

Dr. Waheed emphasized that e-challans are issued automatically through cameras without discrimination, and payment is mandatory for all citizens. He added that modern surveillance technology has significantly improved road safety and discipline, with PSCA actively supporting the impoundment drive.

Initially, vehicles with 50 or more unpaid e-challans have been blacklisted.

Meanwhile, the PSCA has also launched an online e-challan review system on its website, allowing citizens to correct inaccurate fines by submitting complaints and proof. The new system replaces the previous email-based process, ensuring faster verification and resolution.

Additionally, citizens now receive e-challan notifications via SMS and WhatsApp, promoting transparency and convenience in traffic management across Punjab.
