Lahore Traffic Police Imposes Stricter Rules for Driving License Issuance

LAHORE – The Lahore Traffic Police have enforced new, stricter measures to ensure transparency in driving license issuance. DIG Traffic Waqas Nazir announced that cameras at all testing centers will remain active at all times and cannot be turned off.

Permanent Video Evidence
Under the revised policy, no license will be granted without recorded proof of the test. Unlike before, when footage was stored for only 15 days, video backups will now be permanently secured at the Safe City Authority’s data center.

Curbing Irregularities
DIG Waqas Nazir emphasized that the system will prevent untrained or recommended applicants from obtaining licenses. With cameras and vehicle sensors detecting mistakes during tests, only competent drivers will qualify.

Reason for the Change
The decision was prompted by repeated complaints regarding loopholes in the testing system. Officials believe permanent recordings will create a more accountable, transparent mechanism for audits and corrective actions.
