Lahore to Receive Weekend Rains from New Westerly Wave

Lahore is expected to receive more rainfall over the weekend as cloud cover builds across the city, offering some relief from the recent spell of warm weather. The Meteorological Department has indicated that these clouds are likely to bring rain along with gusty winds and occasional thunderstorms.

On Saturday, the temperature in Lahore was recorded at around 23°C, with humidity levels near 57 percent and light winds blowing at approximately 5 km/h, creating relatively pleasant conditions. However, weather experts have cautioned that conditions may change in the coming hours, with rainfall likely to further ease the heat. Citizens have been advised to remain prepared and take precautionary measures ahead of possible showers and storms.

A strong westerly wave is currently influencing the upper regions of the country, impacting weather patterns across Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. By Saturday night, most districts are expected to experience partly cloudy conditions, with rain-windstorms and thunderstorms forecast in several areas including Murree, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sargodha, Mianwali, Faisalabad, Jhang, Khushab, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara, and Kasur.

Some regions may also witness isolated heavy rainfall or hailstorms during this period. Meanwhile, the PMD has predicted that another westerly system will approach western Balochistan by the evening of April 5 and continue to affect upper parts of the country until April 9.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, widespread rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms are expected across multiple districts, with snowfall anticipated in mountainous areas. Authorities have urged residents to stay updated with official forecasts and take necessary safety precautions, especially in areas vulnerable to heavy rain and storms.
