Lahore is preparing to open 10 model bazaars across the city, aimed at providing citizens with discounted and quality goods during the holy month of Ramadan. The initiative, supervised by the district administration, is part of a larger effort to ensure affordable access to essential food items, Express News reported.
A meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lahore, Syed Musa Raza, finalized the arrangements for these Ramadan bazaars. Each bazaar will have 10 shops—seven of which will focus on selling fruits, vegetables, pulses, spices, and other essentials, while the remaining three will be dedicated to meat products.

To make the shopping experience more accessible and inclusive, the bazaars will have separate counters for women, senior citizens, and regular customers, ensuring smooth and efficient service for all. The markets will offer goods at wholesale prices, allowing citizens to purchase quality items at affordable rates.
DC Lahore emphasized that prices would be regulated by the Market Committee, and vendors will be supplied products at wholesale prices to keep costs low for consumers. The Deputy Commissioner has instructed that all preparations be completed by February 24, with the markets opening just before Ramadan to meet the needs of shoppers.
In addition to the bazaars, arrangements are being made for adequate parking and cleanliness to ensure a hassle-free shopping experience. This initiative is expected to provide significant relief to citizens during the holy month by offering essential items at fair prices.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently highlighted the government’s commitment to making essential food items affordable during Ramadan. He stressed the importance of cooperation between federal and provincial authorities in ensuring that food items remain accessible to the public at reasonable rates.
