Basant Returns to Lahore Registration Fees and Guidelines Announced

Lahore is preparing to celebrate Basant after 25 years, with the district administration announcing registration fees for kite makers, string manufacturers, and kite flying associations.

The registration fee for kite and string manufacturers has been fixed at Rs. 1,000. Officials said this step ensures safety and organization during the festival.

For Kite Flying Associations, the registration fee is Rs. 5,000. Authorities emphasized that registration is mandatory for all organized kite flying activities during Basant.

Officials clarified that Form A will be used for kite and string manufacturers, while Form C is required for Kite Flying Associations. These forms must be submitted on time to participate.

The Punjab government has approved the celebration of Basant in Lahore from February 6 to 8, subject to compliance with safety and administrative guidelines. Authorities said all activities must follow these rules to ensure public safety.

Preparations include installing safety rods on motorcycles and designating areas for fireworks. These measures aim to maintain order and protect festival-goers.

The revival of Basant comes after a detailed ordinance issued by the Punjab government, signed by Governor Sardar Saleem Haider. The ordinance allows kite flying under strict regulations while ensuring a safe cultural celebration.

A recent meeting led by Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb confirmed that strict compliance with all laws will be enforced. Authorities also stressed that only registered kite makers and associations will be allowed to participate.

Officials said these steps are essential to ensure a controlled, vibrant, and culturally rich Basant festival. The government hopes the measures will allow residents and visitors to safely enjoy kite flying and other traditional activities.
