Police have made significant progress in the investigation into the targeted k!lling of three policemen in Lahore, taking two police personnel into custody over their alleged contacts with suspects linked to the attack.
The development comes as investigators continue efforts to trace and arrest a third suspect allegedly involved in the incident.
According to police sources, ASI Jamshed and Constable Ghulam Farid were taken into custody following an initial investigation into their alleged communications and contacts with the suspects.
Two Officers Under Investigation
Police sources said both personnel had been in contact with individuals allegedly linked to the attack.
Investigators are now examining the nature of those contacts and determining whether the two officers had any connection with the incident.
Sources also said photographs allegedly showing ASI Jamshed with suspect Rehan Butt have surfaced on social media.
A police constable posted at Lower Mall Police Station has also been taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
Officials said the detained personnel remain under investigation while authorities examine all available evidence and attempt to establish whether their alleged contacts played any role in the case.
Third Suspect Identified as Tariq
Police have also identified another suspect allegedly involved in the attack that left three policemen martyred.
According to police sources, the third accused has been identified as 32-year-old Tariq, a resident of Bagh, Azad Kashmir.
Police said Tariq was allegedly associated with Rehan Butt, one of the suspects linked to the case.
A case has been registered against Tariq at Ravi Road Police Station, according to police sources.
Investigators reportedly obtained Tariq’s information through the Hotel Eye app, where he had stayed.
Sources further claimed that Tariq had also stayed at Rehan Butt’s residence for some time.
Police Launch Search for Suspect
According to investigators, Tariq had travelled towards a drain in Ravi with Rehan Butt before becoming separated from Rehan and his father.
Tariq remains at large, and police teams are conducting searches to locate and arrest him.
Police said Rehan Butt and his father were later k!lled during a police encounter in Sheikhupura earlier in the morning.
Investigators are continuing to collect information about the suspects and their movements before and after the Lahore attacks.
Investigation Continues
The investigation is now focusing on several aspects of the case, including the alleged links between the detained police personnel and the suspects.
Authorities are also attempting to determine Tariq’s current whereabouts and establish the full circumstances surrounding the targeted k!lling of the three policemen.
Police teams remain engaged in the search operation, while further action is expected as investigators verify the available evidence and statements.
