LAHORE – Police have confirmed the arrest of Shah Rees, son of Aleema Khan and nephew of PTI founder Imran Khan, in connection with the May 9 incidents.
DIG Investigation Syed Zeeshan Raza said Shah Rees was wanted in several cases and has now been taken into custody, adding that those involved in anti-state activities would not be given leniency. He will be presented before a court today (Friday).
Earlier, Aleema Khan had claimed that her son was abducted from their home by four masked armed men who entered through the kitchen. She alleged the men harassed domestic staff and forcibly took Shah Rees away from his bedroom in front of his wife and children. A PTI spokesperson backed her statement, alleging that Shah was also assaulted during the incident.
However, confusion grew after Lahore’s police chief initially denied any such arrest, as highlighted by Prime Minister’s Political Adviser Rana Sanaullah. The conflicting reports have raised questions about the circumstances surrounding Shah Rees’ detention and the process followed by authorities.
