Basant Festival 2026 How Lahore Is Protecting Motorcyclists (2)

The Lahore administration has launched extensive safety measures ahead of the Basant Festival 2026. Authorities distributed 10 lakh safety rods among motorcyclists across the city. The initiative aims to reduce accidents and ensure public safety during the celebrations.

The city has been divided into three zones for better management. Walled Lahore has 48 Red Zones, Ichhra has 32 Yellow Zones, and Liberty has 20 Green Zones. Over Rs110 million has been spent on the safety rods to equip riders and improve festival safety.

To further enhance safety, around 100 road safety camps have been set up on major roads in all zones. Teams from the district administration, traffic police, and rescue services will monitor these camps and enforce safety regulations.

Officials have stressed that no motorcycle or loader rickshaw will be allowed on roads without a helmet. This strict rule is part of the administration’s efforts to prevent accidents during the Basant celebrations.

The Punjab government is also providing a free shuttle service to ease traffic and promote safe travel. A total of 695 buses will operate on routes from Muridke, Shariqpur, Raiwind, and Manga Manda to Thokar Niaz Baig, as well as from Kasur to Chungi Amar Sidhu.

Authorities believe the combined use of safety rods, road camps, and shuttle services will make the Basant Festival safer for residents and visitors. Motorcyclists are encouraged to follow all safety measures and use protective equipment at all times.

The administration has assured that every effort will be made to manage traffic and maintain order during the festival. These preparations reflect Lahore’s commitment to celebrating Basant safely while minimizing risks on the roads.
