Lahore, Karachi Passport Offices To Run 24/7

The Pakistani government has opted to have at least one passport office operational 24/7 in both Lahore and Karachi, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced.

This decision aims to enhance public convenience by allowing access to passport services at any hour.

The initiative is anticipated to alleviate wait times, accommodate diverse schedules, and alleviate the burden on existing passport facilities. Naqvi’s directive to maintain round-the-clock operations came following his visit to the Lahore Passport Office, where he observed lengthy queues, reports of bribery, and grievances from citizens.

In response, he took action by suspending officials, ordering their replacement, and initiating legal proceedings against them. This initiative forms part of the government’s broader strategy to combat corruption and enhance service delivery within passport offices.
