Lahore Experiences Its Hottest Day in Nearly Two Decades

Lahore faced extreme heat on the third day of Eid-ul-Adha, with temperatures soaring to 46°C — one of the highest recorded in years.

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), this temperature is the city’s highest in nearly 20 years. The previous major record was in 2007, when Lahore Airport registered 48°C (118.4°F).

This intense heatwave is not limited to Lahore, as several parts of the country are also experiencing dangerously high temperatures.

The PMD forecasts little relief, with the heat expected to persist into mid-June.

Across Pakistan, cities like Islamabad and Peshawar are forecast to hit 44°C, while Quetta recorded 36°C, and Karachi remained cooler at 34°C.

Dera Ghazi Khan and Jacobabad recorded the nation’s highest temperatures at 49°C, followed by Sargodha and Sibi at 48°C, and multiple cities including Gujranwala and Jhelum at 47°C.
