Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Athar Waheed has disclosed that even members of law enforcement are among the major violators of traffic rules.
He revealed that 93 police officers were issued fines in a single day for breaching traffic regulations. “Our objective is clear — no one is above the law,” he said, stressing that those responsible for enforcing the law must also set an example.
Reaffirming a zero-tolerance policy, the CTO stated that lawyers, too, would not be granted any exemptions. “If the bar wants to protest, that’s their choice — but helmets will remain compulsory for all motorcyclists, including lawyers,” he emphasized.
Since assuming office, Waheed reported that traffic police have apprehended over 27,000 people for various violations.
“Rules apply equally to everyone — be it civilians, police, or lawyers. True road safety starts with accountability at the top,” he concluded.
