A Lahore Court has taken up a petition seeking the registration of a criminal case against YouTuber Rajab Butt and his friends. The case relates to allegations of spreading fear and panic through a controversial social media video.
The matter was heard by an additional sessions judge in Lahore. The judge issued notices to all parties named in the petition. They have been asked to submit their written replies by January 30.
The court took notice of an application filed by a private petitioner. The petitioner requested formal registration of a criminal complaint against the accused individuals.
According to the petitioner’s lawyer, a video circulated on social media shows the suspects planning a kidnapping. The alleged target was well-known YouTuber Ducky Bhai. The video reportedly caused concern among viewers.
The petition claims that Rajab Butt, Haider Ali, and Maan Dogar were involved in the incident. It is alleged that the suspects ambushed a vehicle during the episode shown in the video.
The petitioner further alleged that Ducky Bhai’s brother, Muneeb, was forcibly picked up. The petition states that his face was covered with a black cloth. He was then detained inside a vehicle.
Claims of physical assault were also made in the application. The petitioner alleged that Muneeb was beaten during the incident. It was further claimed that the entire episode was recorded on video.
According to the petition, Haider Ali recorded the footage. The video was later shared on various social media platforms. The petitioner argued that the video spread fear among the public.
The counsel maintained that the content violated public morality. It was also said to threaten peace and law and order. On these grounds, the Lahore Court was requested to order police action.
The petitioner urged the court to direct authorities to register a formal criminal case. The request was based on the alleged seriousness of the incident.
After reviewing the initial application, the Lahore Court summoned all concerned parties. The judge fixed January 30 for their appearance. Further proceedings will begin after the court reviews their responses.
The court has not yet made any ruling on the merits of the case. Legal experts say the next hearing will be important. It will determine whether a criminal case is formally registered.
