Kyrgyzstan has updated its visa policy, reducing the visa-free stay for travelers from 55 countries, including the US, UK, EU states, and several Asia-Pacific nations.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the new rules came into effect on December 31, 2025, under Resolution No. 855. The maximum visa-free stay is now 30 days within any 60 days, down from the previous 60 days within 120 days.
Who Is Affected
The revised rules apply to citizens of the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and all European Union member states. Travelers who exceed the permitted duration must leave the country or obtain a visa, temporary authorization, or residence permit.
Certain groups continue to enjoy extended stays. Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) nationals from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia can stay up to 90 days within 180 days. Citizens of Turkey, Serbia, Ukraine, and Mongolia also have similar privileges. Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nationals may stay for 180 days within 360 days without a visa.
e-Visa Options
Kyrgyzstan still offers an e-Visa system for visitors planning longer trips. This allows tourists, business travelers, and long-term visitors to apply online before arrival, simplifying the application process.
Advisory for Travelers
Authorities have urged travelers to carefully monitor their stay. Overstaying could result in fines, penalties, or future entry restrictions. Travelers are advised to follow the updated rules strictly to avoid complications.
The changes aim to streamline migration procedures, improve enforcement, and prevent overstays while maintaining tourism and business travel opportunities.
