Kusal Perera Returns to Boost Lahore Qalandars Ahead of Crucial PSL Clash

Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Perera has officially rejoined the Lahore Qalandars for the remainder of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 season. He arrived in Lahore earlier today, just in time for the team’s key encounter against Peshawar Zalmi on May 18.

Joining him were fellow overseas players Shakib Al Hasan and Bhanuka Rajapaksa, who come in as replacements for the injured Tom Curran and Daryl Mitchell. With over 4,500 T20 runs to his name, the 34-year-old Perera is expected to add much-needed firepower to the Qalandars’ lineup.

Speaking on his return, Perera shared his enthusiasm: “It feels great to be back with Lahore Qalandars. I’ve always enjoyed playing in the PSL. I’m honoured to return at such a crucial time and eager to contribute to the team’s success.”

Team Director Sameen Rana welcomed the seasoned batter, saying his presence brings energy and experience to the side. “We’re grateful to Kusal for making himself available. It’s a big lift for the squad to have him back,” he noted.

PSL X resumed on May 17 following a temporary suspension due to border tensions with India. The final is slated for May 25 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
