Kusal Mendis, representing Peshawar Zalmi, has etched his name in Pakistan Super League history by becoming the first overseas player to score 500 runs in a single season. The milestone was achieved during PSL 11, highlighting his exceptional form throughout the tournament.
Opening the batting for Zalmi, Mendis reached the 500-run mark in just nine matches and innings. He has maintained an impressive average of 62.50 and a remarkable strike rate of 170.64. His performance includes four half-centuries and one century, making him one of the standout players of the season. Currently, he leads the run-scoring charts, placing himself in a strong position to claim the top batter award as the competition heads into its निर्णायक stage.
Closely following him is Zalmi’s captain, Babar Azam, who has also delivered a stellar performance. Babar has accumulated 485 runs in nine matches, including three fifties and a century. With an outstanding average of 80.83 and a strike rate of 141.39, he remains a strong contender for the top spot.
Other notable performers this season include Fakhar Zaman of Lahore Qalandars and Steve Smith of Multan Sultans, who have also contributed significantly with the bat.
With Zalmi advancing to the playoffs, the rivalry between Mendis and Babar has become a major talking point. The team is set to face Islamabad United at National Stadium on April 27. The winner will secure a direct place in the final, while the losing side will get another opportunity through the Eliminator stage.
