Hundreds of students from Karachi University (KU) took to the streets on Monday to protest against what they claimed was an alleged increase in tuition and examination fees by up to 200 percent.
Boycotting academic activities, the protesting students marched to University Road, where their sit-in caused significant traffic disruptions. They chanted slogans demanding that the vice-chancellor (VC) withdraw the fee hikes.

In response, VC Prof Dr Muhammad Qaiser stated that the university had decided to implement a moderate increase in fees for new entrants, emphasizing that the fee structure had not been modified in the last five years.
Following negotiations, the students eventually ended their protest after Dr. Qaiser confirmed through a notification that the increase in examination fees for new entrants would be 50 percent.
