The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a two-year exemption from mountaineering tax on peaks in the Hindu Kush range. According to the Director General of the Tourism Authority, this waiver will be effective from 2025 to 2026, with 2025 designated as the “Year of Tirich Mir” to commemorate 75 years since its first successful ascent.
Officials stated that the initiative aims to boost mountaineering and tourism across the region.

The mountaineering tax in KP is a government-imposed fee required for climbing specific peaks, especially in the Hindu Kush, Karakoram, and Himalayas.
