What’s Behind the KP Government’s Rs. 52 Million Tanda Dam Plan

The KP Government has approved Rs. 52 million for the renovation and beautification of Tanda Dam in Kohat. The project aims to develop the area into a modern recreational and tourist destination, providing a public-friendly leisure space for visitors.

Shafi Jan, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations, said that the tendering process for the project has already been completed under previously sanctioned funds. He added that physical work on the site will start soon.

Once completed, Tanda Dam, also called Lakeview Park, is expected to strengthen Kohat’s status as a key tourism destination in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The project is also expected to create employment opportunities and contribute to the socio-economic uplift of the region.

Officials revealed that the beautification plan includes enhanced landscaping, improved public amenities, and tourist-friendly facilities. The initiative aligns with the KP Government’s focus on promoting eco-friendly and leisure tourism across the province.

The Tanda Dam project was announced twice before during the tenures of former Chief Ministers Pervez Khattak and Mahmood Khan, but work did not move forward at that time. The current approval signals renewed commitment from the KP Government to complete the long-delayed initiative.

Authorities also highlighted that the development of Tanda Dam will encourage both domestic and international tourism. Visitors will benefit from modern recreational facilities, green spaces, and scenic viewpoints. The project is designed to make the area more accessible and attractive to families and tourists alike.
