KP Government Launches Rs20 Billion Solar Plan For 130,000 Homes

The KP government has launched a major solar energy project worth Rs20 billion. This initiative aims to provide clean energy to 130,000 households in the province. It also seeks to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and ease ongoing power shortages.

In the first phase, 32,500 households were selected through electronic balloting to receive free solar systems. These systems include solar panels, batteries, fans, and lights. The KP government received an overwhelming 2.5 million online applications, showing strong public demand.

The project will cover 130,000 homes, including 30,000 in merged districts. Half of the selected households will get free solar units, while the others can buy subsidized systems with easy installment plans. The KP government prioritized vulnerable groups such as widows, transgender people, and low-income families in the selection process.

Officials say the selection was transparent and free from political bias. They are also working to ensure quality and proper monitoring of the systems. The KP government plans to extend solar energy use to schools, mosques, and public buildings to reduce pressure on the national grid.

Experts describe this move as an important step toward energy independence and environmental sustainability. They also recommend investing in energy storage and audits to maximize the solar project’s success.

Despite some challenges, the KP government’s solar plan represents significant progress in renewable energy adoption. It aims to provide economic relief and a cleaner environment for thousands of families. With strong government support and public interest, KP is becoming a leader in Pakistan’s renewable energy efforts.

This project shows the KP government’s commitment to a greener future and better power solutions for its citizens. The success of this initiative could inspire other regions to follow suit.
