All educational institutions in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) are set to undergo a temporary closure from February 7 to 9, aligning with the upcoming general elections. While the official decision has been solidified, the formal announcement is anticipated in the initial week of February.

The strategic closure of educational facilities during this period is linked to the substantial role played by schools and colleges as polling stations for the elections scheduled for February 8. Recognizing the pivotal involvement of teachers serving as polling staff, the decision to shut down educational institutions for a duration of three days has been taken.

The final decision regarding the closure of all schools and colleges is expected to be formally communicated two or three days before the general elections take place. Moreover, local authorities may explore the option of extending the holiday period based on the prevailing circumstances and requirements.

In response to the shortage of more than 25,000 policemen for election duties, the government has devised a plan to mobilize government officials from various departments. This strategic measure aims to address the personnel deficit and ensure the efficient conduct of the electoral process.
