The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has unearthed a massive Rs40 billion corruption scandal in Kohistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, exposing a network of officials and contractors allegedly involved in embezzling public funds.

The NAB probe led to the recovery and freezing of assets worth Rs25 billion so far, including 77 luxury vehicles such as BMWs, Porsches, Audis, and Lexus models. Additionally, officials seized over Rs1 billion in cash, foreign currencies, and more than 3 kilograms of gold.

The anti-graft watchdog also froze Rs5 billion across 73 bank accounts linked to suspects. Real estate assets—including farmhouses, penthouses, commercial plazas, and agricultural land—worth an estimated Rs17 billion have also been seized.

A high-profile crackdown is underway, with arrests of influential figures expected soon. Investigators revealed the scandal involves a complex nexus of government officials, contractors, and banking staff who orchestrated large-scale coordinated fraud to build enormous wealth.

The dramatic revelations have sparked public outrage, especially after reports surfaced that luxury assets, including the mansion used in the famous drama Parizaad, were among the seized properties.
