Kite flying banned again in Lahore after Basant

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has officially declared that Basant has concluded, announcing that kite flying is now strictly prohibited across the province. She cautioned that authorities will take firm action against anyone violating the ban and advised parents to keep a close watch on their children to prevent any unsafe activities related to kite flying.

While addressing the media about the end of Basant, Bukhari expressed appreciation to the people of Lahore, citizens across Pakistan, and overseas Pakistanis for celebrating the festival with responsibility and discipline. She said the public’s cooperation played a key role in ensuring that Basant remained peaceful, organized, and free from major incidents.

She also thanked international guests and diplomats who visited Lahore to witness the Basant celebrations. According to her, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz earned widespread praise for making special arrangements that guaranteed safety and smooth management throughout the festival. Bukhari noted that the people of Lahore deserved recognition for observing the rules and celebrating Basant in a careful and respectful manner.

The minister highlighted that the festival attracted visitors from countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Middle East, reflecting Basant’s cultural importance and popularity. She added that citizens fully complied with government-issued standard operating procedures and official guidelines, which contributed significantly to the event’s success.

Commending the efforts of the administration, Bukhari said police, rescue teams, district authorities, and other departments performed their duties with commitment and professionalism to protect the public during Basant. She concluded by stating that Pakistanis continue to support progress, stability, and peace, while those attempting to disrupt the country’s development ultimately face consequences for their actions.
