Keshav Maharaj to Miss Remainder of ODI Series Against Pakistan Due to Injury

South Africa’s left-arm spinner, Keshav Maharaj, will miss the rest of the ODI series against Pakistan after sustaining a left adductor strain. The news was confirmed by the team via a social media post, stating that Maharaj will travel to Durban for rehabilitation and will be reassessed ahead of the upcoming Test series against Pakistan.

Maharaj, who injured himself during the warm-up for the first ODI, has been a vital part of South Africa’s lineup across formats. Despite the setback, he had initially been included in the Test squad for the series against Pakistan.

To fill Maharaj’s spot for the final two ODIs, South Africa has named Bjorn Fortuin as his replacement. The Proteas are trailing 0-1 in the three-match ODI series after losing the opening game by three wickets in Paarl earlier this week.

Maharaj, 34, played a crucial role in South Africa’s recent Test victory over Sri Lanka, where he took a seven-wicket haul in Gqeberha. His absence is expected to be a significant blow to South Africa’s chances in the remaining ODIs.
