[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]The Karakoram (KK) Highway, stretching from Khunjerab Pass to Hasan Abdal, Punjab, has been reopened for one-way traffic after being blocked by landslides at Raikot, Sumer Nallah, and other locations. This obstruction had stranded both local residents and tourists.

The Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) workers successfully restored traffic between Gilgit and Skardu by clearing the landslip debris from Shahre-Baltistan, while the route near Dhee in Khunjerab has also been made accessible.

Furthermore, the Naran-Babusar route has been reopened for traffic, and authorities are ensuring the safe return of tourists and locals to their homes.

However, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning of heavy monsoon rains in the upcoming days. Tourists have been specifically advised to cancel their travel plans to avoid potential mishaps and inconveniences.

The PMD predicts that the heavy rains may lead to urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Gujranwala, Lahore, and Faisalabad from 25th to 28th July. Additionally, landslides are likely in vulnerable areas such as Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, and hilly regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

All relevant authorities have been cautioned to stay vigilant and take necessary precautionary measures during the forecasted period.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
