Residents of several areas in Karachi will face a temporary disruption in water supply as the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) has announced a 48-hour suspension to facilitate major upgrade work at the Gharo Old Pumping House. The maintenance project, scheduled from August 3 to August 5, is aimed at improving the city’s water distribution infrastructure and ensuring a more reliable supply in the future.
According to the utility, the planned shutdown is necessary to complete critical technical work that will enhance the performance and operational capacity of one of Karachi’s key water pumping facilities.
Water Supply to Remain Suspended for 48 Hours
The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation confirmed that the water supply interruption will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 3, and continue until 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5.
The utility said the suspension is part of a comprehensive modernization project at the Gharo Old Pumping House, where engineers will carry out essential upgrades to improve the overall efficiency and reliability of the water supply network.
Residents have been advised to store sufficient water before the shutdown begins to avoid inconvenience during the maintenance period.
