Karachi Braces for Scorching Heat as Temperatures Set to Soar to 38°C
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a heat advisory for Karachi, predicting that temperatures could climb up to 38°C in the coming days, accompanied by high humidity levels.
According to the Met Office, a shift in wind direction is primarily responsible for the temperature spike. The resulting weather will be hot and humid, with the “feels-like” temperature expected to hit as high as 41°C, increasing discomfort for residents.

On Saturday morning, the city recorded a minimum temperature of 25.7°C, with northwesterly winds blowing at 8 km/h. Meteorologists note that this wind pattern is contributing to the heat buildup.
“The rise in temperature is due to a shift in wind direction, and citizens may experience discomfort with real-feel temperatures ranging between 39 to 41 degrees Celsius,” a PMD official told Dawn.
Heatwave Impact and Precautions
The maximum temperature in Karachi is expected to fluctuate between 36°C and 38°C for most areas. However, some relief is anticipated in the evening as the sea breeze is likely to return, helping to moderate the high heat levels.
In light of the heatwave, the PMD has advised the public to:
- Stay hydrated throughout the day
- Avoid outdoor activities during peak hours (12 PM to 4 PM)
- Wear light clothing and use sunscreen
- Seek shade or air-conditioned areas whenever possible
