The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has clarified that reports of gas suspension in various parts of Karachi are false. The company stated that the city’s overall gas supply remains stable and uninterrupted.
According to SSGC, claims regarding widespread gas shutdowns are unfounded. No official complaints about area-wide closures have been received through the company’s helpline 1199. Officials explained that some local fluctuations in gas pressure may occur due to compressor usage in individual homes. This can create a temporary impression of low supply in nearby neighborhoods.
The company emphasized that overall, Karachi residents continue to have reliable gas service. SSGC also noted that demand for gas typically rises during the holy month of Ramadan. To address this, the company has implemented measures to maintain supply consistently from 3:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. throughout the city.
SSGC urged consumers not to rely on unverified reports circulating on social media. The company said it is closely monitoring the distribution network to prevent interruptions. It also reminded citizens that any real issues can be reported via their official helpline or customer service channels.
In addition to clarifying the situation, SSGC assured the public that regular maintenance and operational checks are ongoing. The company is taking proactive steps to ensure that gas supply meets the increased demand during Ramadan and other peak periods.
Officials concluded that the city’s gas network is functioning normally and that residents should not worry about supply disruptions. Consumers are encouraged to report any genuine service issues directly to SSGC rather than relying on rumors.
