Karachi Customs has seized more than 42,200 litres of smuggled Iranian diesel worth over Rs12 million in a major anti-smuggling operation. The raid took place along the Northern Bypass area in Karachi, targeting illegal storage and sale points, according to an official statement.
Acting on credible intelligence, Karachi Customs launched a coordinated operation under the supervision of senior officers in the early hours of Friday. The operation aimed to stop the movement of smuggled fuel being shifted to a secure location.
During the search, enforcement teams discovered several concealed tanks and makeshift storage sites used for hiding the smuggled diesel. The seized fuel, valued at more than Rs12 million, was later moved to the Caspian State Warehouse in Korangi for safekeeping.
In a statement, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) said the operation reflects its strong determination to eliminate the smuggling of petroleum products. Smuggling, it added, causes significant losses to Pakistan’s national revenue and negatively affects legitimate trade and businesses.
The FBR reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against all forms of smuggling. It emphasized that strict enforcement measures are being implemented across the country to protect legal trade and promote economic stability.
This is not the first major success for Karachi Customs. Last month, its Marine Enforcement Unit intercepted three wooden launches carrying 132,564 litres of smuggled Iranian high-speed diesel (HSD) worth over Rs78 million. That operation was described as the largest single seizure of Iranian diesel so far.

Officials said Karachi Customs will continue conducting such intelligence-based operations to prevent smuggling through land and sea routes. These efforts are part of Pakistan’s broader strategy to strengthen border controls, safeguard lawful trade, and ensure compliance with tax and customs regulations.
