Karachi Court Dismisses Case Against Deceased Mustafa Amir

A local court in Karachi has formally dismissed the narcotics case against Mustafa Amir, also known as Amir alias Taimoor, following the submission of a report by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) confirming his death. The court reviewed the death certificate and accompanying documents provided by the ANF and subsequently closed the case.

Mustafa Amir had been involved in a 2024 narcotics case, with arrest warrants issued earlier this year on February 22. However, his death has now led to the dismissal of charges against him. Authorities discovered his charred body in Balochistan after he had gone missing from Karachi’s DHA on January 6. It took law enforcement 39 days to confirm that he had been murdered.

While the case against Amir has been closed, two co-accused, Ammar Hameed and Faisal Yaqoob, remain at large. The court has reissued non-bailable arrest warrants for both fugitives as efforts to locate and apprehend them continue.

The investigation into Mustafa Amir’s murder revealed links to an alleged drug network, particularly focusing on cannabis trade. The case took a dramatic turn with the arrest of Armaghan, an acquaintance of Amir, who was apprehended after a tense four-hour standoff with police, during which a DSP and a constable were injured. The investigation has led to a broader police crackdown on the drug network, resulting in multiple arrests, including actor Sajid Hasan’s son, Sarim Hasan.
