A newlywed couple from Karachi tragically lost their lives due to suffocation in a Neelum Valley guesthouse, reportedly from gas inhalation.

The victims, identified as 25-year-old mechanical engineer Syed Muhammad Taha and his 22-year-old wife, Dua Zahra, a business administration student, had traveled to the valley for their honeymoon. They checked into a guesthouse in a village approximately 145 kilometers from Muzaffarabad.

According to the deputy commissioner, the couple had turned on a gas heater to stay warm as temperatures dropped to minus 10 degrees Celsius. They also sealed the room by closing all windows and doors. Guesthouse staff had advised them to move the gas cylinder outside after half an hour, but they failed to do so.

On Saturday morning, when staff knocked on their door and received no response, they alerted the District Disaster Management Authority. Officials forced the door open and found Dua lying on the bed and Taha collapsed on the floor. Their bodies were transported to Muzaffarabad for legal formalities before being sent to Karachi via Islamabad Airport. Family members last spoke to them on Friday night, unaware it would be their final conversation.
