Karachi Traffic Police has announced a ban on heavy vehicles across the city on Rabi ul Awal 11 and 12. The decision aims to ensure smooth traffic flow and enhance public safety during the Eid Milad un Nabi processions on September 6.
Authorities expect large crowds during the religious events and rallies planned across Karachi. To avoid traffic jams and reduce the risk of accidents, heavy trucks and other large vehicles will not be allowed on main roads and link roads during these two days.
This ban comes amid a worrying rise in fatal road accidents in Karachi this year. So far, 555 people have lost their lives in traffic accidents across the city in 2025. Out of these, 169 deaths involved heavy vehicles, highlighting the dangers they pose on crowded roads.
Dumper trucks have been especially deadly, causing 34 fatalities, while trailers have resulted in 63 deaths. Other vehicles like water tankers and buses were involved in 37 and 35 fatal accidents, respectively.
The Karachi Traffic Police emphasized that this temporary restriction is essential for protecting citizens during the religious gatherings. They also urged drivers to follow traffic rules and cooperate with authorities during this period.
By banning heavy traffic, Karachi aims to provide a safer and more organized environment during the Eid Milad un Nabi celebrations. The authorities hope this measure will reduce accidents and ease congestion on busy routes.
Karachi residents are advised to plan their travel accordingly and stay updated on traffic regulations during Rabi ul Awal 11 and 12.
