In a significant development, the victim in the Karachi assault case has formally pardoned the accused, Salman Farooqi and Owais Hashmi, as the Judicial Magistrate (South) reserved judgment on their bail request.
During the court hearing, police produced both suspects, while the victim, Sudheer, was also present and identified them. He stated that he appeared in court on his lawyer’s advice and was previously unaware of the summons.

Sudheer informed the court that he had forgiven the accused and no longer wished to pursue the case, adding that his decision was made voluntarily and without any external pressure. He expressed no objection to the court’s decision on the matter.
Following the statement, the court postponed the bail verdict and placed the suspects on judicial remand. The investigation officer was directed to present a progress report at the next hearing.
Meanwhile, prosecutor Irfana Qadri opposed the bail, highlighting the serious nature of the charges, which include threats and the public humiliation of a woman—offenses that are non-bailable.
The case originates from a recent incident in Defence, where a car hit a motorcycle, leading to a violent altercation. Salman Farooqi allegedly assaulted the motorcyclist as his sisters pleaded for mercy. The incident went viral on social media, sparking widespread condemnation.
