New Zealand’s Kane Williamson has surpassed Virat Kohli to become the second-fastest men’s cricketer to reach 7,000 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs). Williamson achieved the milestone during his 159th ODI innings in a tri-nation series match against South Africa, where he remained unbeaten on 133 runs.
The record for the fastest to 7,000 ODI runs is still held by South Africa’s Hashim Amla, who reached the mark in just 150 innings. Kohli, who previously held the second spot, achieved the feat in 161 innings.

Williamson’s century powered New Zealand to a six-wicket win over South Africa, securing their spot in the tri-nation series final. This was Williamson’s first ODI century since 2019 and his second-fastest in the format.
