Kamala Harris Cancels Speech Following US Election Results

Kamala Harris has remained “silent” and cancelled her planned speech following significant losses in key swing states as Donald Trump made strong gains in the 2024 US presidential election. As the night progressed, Trump was projected to win Georgia and North Carolina, flipping the former from Democratic control. With more results favoring Trump, Harris’ campaign was dealt a blow, as she trailed in crucial states such as Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Arizona—states vital for her path to victory.

Reports from the Harris campaign revealed that staff were instructed to avoid speaking to the media as the results continued to pour in. Correspondents at her campaign headquarters in Washington, D.C. described the atmosphere as one of “silence,” with no further statements from the team. One CNN reporter noted, “The operative word right now is silence. There’s not a lot being said.”

Meanwhile, Harris’ supporters were visibly upset, with crowds seen leaving her event at Howard University as Trump’s victories mounted. Video footage showed attendees exiting in large numbers as the news of Trump’s successes spread across the room.

As the situation continued to unfold, Harris’ press spokesman confirmed she would address the nation on Wednesday. Cedric Richmond, co-chairman of Harris’s campaign, stressed that there were still votes to be counted and that the team would continue to fight to ensure all voices were heard.

Despite the setbacks, Trump’s team is preparing for a victory speech at his Palm Beach convention center. If successful, Trump would make history as the second U.S. president to serve two non-consecutive terms, following Grover Cleveland’s precedent in the 19th century.

Though the election remains fluid, Trump’s projected wins in key states have shifted the contest sharply in his favor.
