As the first snowflakes fell over Kalam Valley on Thursday, the tall deodara and pine trees became silent. Birds, both native and migratory, retreated to their nests, signaling the arrival of winter.

Rainfall followed by moderate to heavy snowfall transformed Upper Swat into a sparkling winter wonderland. The fresh snow brought life to Malam Jabba, Kalam, Osho, Behrain, and surrounding valleys. Families, adventure seekers, and winter tourists arrived to experience the snowfall magic.

The white blanket over the peaks of the Koh-e-Hindukush range created breathtaking views. Malam Jabba and Kalam came alive with the excitement of visitors enjoying the winter landscape.

The crisp mountain air echoed with the rhythmic swish of skis cutting through fresh powder. First-time snowboarders, experienced skiers, and curious families filled the slopes. “The valley feels reborn with the first snowfall,” said Khushal Khan, a local hotel owner. “Children are having fun, and experienced skiers are racing past. This is the season everyone waits for.” He added that all hotel rooms are fully booked.

Malam Jabba, at an altitude of 2,804 meters, is Pakistan’s premier ski resort. It offers two ski tracks over 800 meters, plus winter sports including skiing, snowboarding, ice hockey, and curling. These activities make it a favorite destination for winter tourists seeking adventure. Check the latest update on Murree Expressway closed to traffic due to heavy snowfall.

Beyond Malam Jabba and Kalam, snowfall enhanced the charm of Miandam, Matiltan, Utror, Gabral, Loye Sar, and Madain. Visitors from Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Charsadda, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad poured into the region. Many combined snow sports with trekking and enjoyed Swat’s famous brown trout with family.

Property dealer Nasir Khan from Peshawar described the winter beauty of Malam Jabba and Kalam as unmatched. The steady stream of tourists confirmed that the region remains a top choice for winter tourists across Pakistan.
