ISLAMABAD – Supreme Court Justice Munib Akhtar on Monday termed the order for the review hearing on Article 63-A’s interpretation as illegal.
According to media reports, Justice Akhtar wrote to the Supreme Court Registrar, emphasizing that a five-member bench was required to hear the case, not the four-member bench currently assigned.

In his letter, he stated that although his name appeared on the hearing order, it lacked his signature, and he reiterated that the four-member bench could not lawfully preside over the review case. He expressed respect for the judges but stressed that the hearing violated legal procedures.
Justice Akhtar also reiterated his earlier stance and protested that today’s hearing order was not judicial and held no legal significance regarding the Article 63-A review case.
