Journalists boycott PTI leaders' press conference

On Friday, journalists boycotted a press conference held by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Salman Akram Raja, Shibli Faraz, and Raoof Hasan in response to recent controversial comments made by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur about women and journalists.

During the protest, a journalist highlighted that such language was unacceptable. In response, Salman Akram Raja acknowledged that PTI’s founder believes Gandapur’s remarks were inappropriate. Raja emphasized that journalists are currently engaged in a significant struggle, and the comments made about them were wrong.

Raja further noted that Barrister Gohar had also condemned Gandapur’s statements and that Gandapur himself had promised to clarify his comments. Raja stressed that Pakistan is at a crucial juncture, and the remarks made about journalists do not reflect the party’s stance. He asserted that PTI does not endorse ridiculing anyone and reaffirmed the party’s respect for journalists, emphasizing that abusive language is inconsistent with PTI’s policy.

Raja acknowledged the important role journalists play in conveying the party’s message to the public and expressed understanding of the challenges they face.
